New Electrical Safety Standards regulations for la
Posted: 20/04/2021
This is a reminder that the above legislation was introduced on 1st June 2020 and required all new tenancies to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) obtained for the premises, from a qualified and competent person and a copy supplied to the new tenant. For existing tenancies, an EICR must be obtained and supplied to the tenant by 1st April 2021. A ‘satisfactory’ EICR needs to be obtained at least every 5 years
Please pay particular attention to the requirement for the contractor to be ‘qualified and competent’ in inspection and testing, not just installation otherwise your EICR may not be acceptable – see the attached advice sheet
Failure to comply with this legislation is an offence and fines of up to £30,000 can be issued by local authorities.
